The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has issued guidelines for colleges to fill seats that remain vacant after the completion of all Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds for courses under the Department of Technical Education.As per the notice, colleges can begin institutional-level admissions only after all CAP rounds are completed. The vacant seats must be filled according to Rule 13 of the information brochure.The CET Cell has clarified that admissions against these seats must be given strictly on the basis of the inter-se merit of eligible candidates.
Maharashtra CET 2026 : Rules for institutional-level admissions
Colleges have been directed to publish the applicable admission rules, procedure and prospectus for institutional-level admissions on their official websites.Candidates who want admission against vacant seats can apply directly to the concerned college.If a college does not accept direct applications, candidates can submit the institutional-level option form through their CAP portal login. The college will consider the applications received while preparing the merit list.Based on the applications and the list of students provided by the CET Cell, colleges will prepare the institutional-level merit list. The list must be displayed on both the college notice board and its official website.

Once an institutional-level admission is confirmed, the concerned college must immediately update the candidate’s admission details on the CAP portal.The guidelines also make it clear that colleges must follow the prescribed admission procedure while filling vacant seats. Admissions must be made according to the applicable rules and the inter-se merit of candidates.
Maharashtra CET 2026: Warning against admission agents
The CET Cell has also cautioned students and parents against individuals or intermediaries who claim that they can arrange admissions.Candidates have been advised not to accept admission offers before the completion of the CAP rounds.The notice also asks students and parents to remain alert about misleading information shared through social media, links, agents and private consultants. Candidates should verify admission-related information before taking any decision.
