Yash’s much-awaited ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ has released today, August 26, but its Hindi version has undergone several changes before receiving certification. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) completed the certification process for the Hindi-dubbed version on August 25, just a day before its theatrical release.The Hindi version has been passed with an ‘A’ certificate after the makers made changes to certain dialogues, a drug-use sequence and the statutory warning. The development comes as the Geetu Mohandas directorial continues to generate strong pre-release interest, with advance bookings showing considerable momentum.

What cuts has CBFC ordered for ‘Toxic’ Hindi version?

According to the certification details shared by Bollywood Hungama in its report, the CBFC Examining Committee asked the makers to replace an abusive word in the film. An offensive dialogue in the first half was also ordered to be muted. Another dialogue in the second half, which reportedly contained abusive language directed at a child, was asked to be muted as well. The certification process also resulted in changes to a drug-abuse sequence, which was reduced following the committee’s instructions.An obscene dialogue in the second half was additionally ordered to be replaced. The statutory warning, which appeared in Tamil, was also directed to be changed to Hindi for the dubbed version. Following these modifications, the Hindi version received its ‘A’ certificate.

‘Toxic’ Hindi version runtime revealed

The CBFC certificate lists the runtime of the Hindi version at 194.12 minutes. This translates to approximately 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds, making Toxic a notably long theatrical release. The certification was completed on August 25, one day before the film’s scheduled theatrical release.

What changes were made to ‘Toxic’ Tamil version?

The Tamil version received certification earlier, on August 20. Compared with the Hindi version, the Tamil release underwent a more limited change. A dialogue translating to an abusive phrase was ordered to be replaced. No other major cuts from the Tamil version have been mentioned in the available certification details.
