Tara Sutaria, currently winning praise for her role in ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for The Grown-Ups’, has opened up about living with dyscalculia, a learning disability that affects her ability to understand and work with numbers. The actress got candid about the condition while speaking about financial literacy, revealing how her father and her accounts team help her manage her money and investments.
Tara Sutaria reveals her dyscalculia diagnosis
Speaking to Hautterfly about financial literacy, Tara Sutaria explained the support system she relies on to manage her finances. She said, “I am lucky because my dad helps me with my finances. It is very important to know everything about your bank work, your paperwork, how to really take care of your finances as a woman. I try and understand as much as I can, but I have a learning disability—a maths learning disability. It is called dyscalculia. I try, but more often than not I make a mistake. I need my team. My accounts team looks into everything.”Dyscalculia is sometimes informally called “math dyslexia”, although the two conditions are not the same. It is a specific learning disorder that makes it difficult to understand, learn and perform mathematical and number-based tasks.
Tara Sutaria talks about her investment portfolio
Despite the challenges, Tara Sutaria said she enjoys building her investment portfolio, especially in real estate. She shared, “I have a diverse portfolio. I am learning as I go. These are conversations I have with my friends, who have the best understanding. I love homes and I love investing in that.”

Tara Sutaria plays Rebecca in Geethu Mohandas’ directorial, which also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth along with Yash as the male lead. The film opened to over Rs 100 crore worldwide but saw a sharp dip on day two, collecting Rs 37 crore in India. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Toxic’ has narrowly missed the Rs 200 crore mark, with its India gross at Rs 197.70 crore and India net collection at Rs 165.35 crore.
