Amid the mixed reactions surrounding ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups’, Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep has thrown his weight behind Yash, commending him for stepping outside his comfort zone with the film. Rather than sticking to a safe, formulaic follow-up to his previous blockbuster, Sudeep noted that Yash chose to experiment, a decision he believes deserves recognition.

Taking to X, Sudeep wrote, “Just want to say this, @TheNameIsYash, you’ve genuinely tried something out of the box rather than taking the predictable route of making another regular, expected, formulaic follow-up to your previous commercial blockbuster (sic).” He continued, “It takes a different mindset, conviction, and most importantly, the guts to attempt something like this.”The actor further noted that Toxic offers plenty for audiences to dissect and debate. He wrote, “#Toxic is an unusual and commendable attempt. There are several portions that are genuinely intriguing and open to great debate, discussion, and learning.” He signed off with, “Kudos to you for daring to experiment and step away from the conventional.”

Sudeep’s remarks arrive at a time when ‘Toxic’ is dominating online conversations. Despite a strong box office run, the film has faced a largely critical response from viewers, with several memes and reactions doing the rounds on social media.

Helmed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash in dual roles, alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. It has been produced by Venkat K Narayana and Yash. Set in Goa during the Portuguese colonial period, the story traces a gangster’s rise and eventual downfall as the world around him shifts. ‘Toxic’ is Yash’s first film since ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ and marks a clear shift away from the action-driven format he’s best known for. The film narrowly missed the Rs 200 crore mark in domestic gross collections. As per Sacnilk, on Day 3, the total India gross collection has reached Rs 197.75 crore.
