‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ Telugu remake: Vijay Deverakonda replaces Ram Charan as Lord Krishna - Reports

‘Hanuman Ansh’ is currently having a remarkable run at the box office, emerging as a surprise super-hit. Interestingly, a similar pattern played out last year with another devotional film, ‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’, which struggled to draw audiences in its first two weeks before steadily gaining traction. It eventually went on to become the biggest Gujarati hit ever made, crossing Rs. 100 crores despite having no major stars and a modest budget.

‘Laalo’ Telugu remake gets Vijay Deverakonda, not Ram Charan

Speculation had earlier pointed to a Telugu remake of ‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ being developed with Ram Charan in mind for the lead role. Setting the record straight, according to Bollywood Hungama, it’s indeed true that Laalo’s Telugu remake is in the works. But Ram Charan is not a part of it. It’s Vijay Deverakonda who has bagged the much-sought-after role of Lord Krishna. ‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’s Telugu version will be produced by the reputed filmmaker, Dil Raju. He recently bagged the Telugu remake rights. Vipul D Shah of Optimystix helped finalize this deal.

‘Laalo’ story: An auto-driver’s encounter with Lord Krishna

In ‘Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’, an auto-rickshaw driver finds himself trapped inside a remote mansion after sneaking in to steal valuables. A mysterious man comes to his rescue, later revealed to be Lord Krishna himself. The film, directed by Ankit Sakhiya, stars Karan Joshi in the lead role, with Shruhad Goswami playing Lord Krishna.

‘Laalo’s slow-burn box office journey

Released on October 10, 2025, in the typically slow pre-Diwali period, it opened to little fanfare and struggled at the box office initially. It collected around Rs. 36 lakhs in week one and about Rs. 28 lakhs in week two. The turnaround began in week three, with collections rising to roughly Rs. 70 lakhs as awareness spread. By week four, the numbers had jumped dramatically to Rs. 14 crores, setting the film on an unstoppable trajectory from there on.
