Samantha Ruth Prabhu says she had no idea about her Rs 1.5 crore lozenge-cut diamong engagement ring, it was Raj Nidimoru who chose it: 'It's all him, I had no part'

Samantha Ruth Prabhu‘s engagement ring may have become a talking point, but the actor has revealed that she had absolutely nothing to do with choosing it. In fact, Samantha says she had never even seen the ring until the moment Raj Nidimoru proposed to her.In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Samantha was asked about the story behind the ring and who picked its design. She revealed that Raj took complete charge of the process, keeping the final piece a secret from her.“I had no idea about it, by the way. I had no part whatsoever in selecting this ring! It’s all Raj. You must ask him…,” she said. Samantha added that she saw the ring for the first time when Raj proposed. The ring also has a personal connection for the couple. Samantha revealed that it was designed by a friend of theirs who works as a jewellery designer in Greece. Reports have since identified the designer as Theodoros Savopoulos, an Athens-based jeweller known for creating bespoke pieces while maintaining a low profile.Savopoulos also shared a photograph of Samantha wearing the ring on social media and wrote, “Honoured to celebrate Samantha & Raj with diamonds whose natural clarity echoes their own, and with a wish for eternal light upon their union.”Beyond its personal story, the ring’s design has also sparked curiosity. Celebrity jewellery expert Priyanshy Goel claimed that Raj proposed with a lozenge-cut diamond ring and estimated its value at around Rs 1.5 crore. The distinctive piece features eight portrait-cut diamond petals. The cut has deep roots in Indian jewellery history and was particularly popular during the Mughal period. Portrait-cut diamonds are also considered rare, with relatively few craftsmen specialising in the traditional technique.Samantha and Raj tied the knot on December 1, 2025, in an intimate temple wedding. The couple later shared glimpses from the ceremony on social media, marking the beginning of their new chapter together.
