‘Satluj': Screenings for Diljit Dosanjh's film held in Jammu following OTT takedown; more shows to follow

Diljit Dosanjh‘s movie ‘Satluj’ was removed from the OTT platform shortly after its digital release. Following the takedown, the film has been screened in multiple locations across the country. According to the latest reports, a recent screening of ‘Satluj’ was held in Jammu for the local community. A few days ago, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee had also announced that they would hold screenings and seminars to support the film.

‘Satluj’ screenings in Jammu amid the ongoing controversy

According to ANI, the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), Jammu, held the screening on Friday, July 10, which people from various districts attended.Treasurer Sardar Jagpal Singh issued a statement about the screening, mentioning that more such shows will be organised at Gurdwaras in the coming days. “Look at the gathering here; people from all faiths—Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, and others—are present. The movie started at 8:00 PM, and it is now nearly 10:20 PM. It is baffling why the government or the people involved want to hide the truth. This movie is currently being shown at this Gurdwara, and the screenings will continue at various other Gurdwaras until the 16th,” his statement read.The move comes after the film was removed in India from the OTT platform it was released on within 48 hours. DGPC joined DSGMC, Akali Dal, SGPC, and Waris Punjab De, along with many other organisations, in holding public screenings of the film across the country.

The centre stated that ‘Satluj’ was released without proper certification

After public backlash over the film’s removal from OTT, a spokesperson from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry issued a statement addressing the matter. ANI reported that the statement claimed the film was released without any certification.“Satluj did not have the required certification for a theatrical release. Instead of complying with the certification process, the makers changed the film’s title and released it on an OTT platform on Friday,” it stated.
