India’s investment and manufacturing push has clocked record gains, with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reaching a record $94.53 billion in 2025-26, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.The latest annual inflow has taken India’s cumulative FDI receipts between 2014 and 2026 to $843 billion, Goyal said, highlighting the figures as September 25 marks 12 years of the ‘Make in India’ campaign.“The numbers tell an encouraging story. India recorded its highest-ever annual FDI inflow of $94.53 billion in FY 2025-26, while cumulative FDI inflows from FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26 reached $843 billion,” he said in a social media post.Alongside the rise in foreign investment, the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have also translated into investment, production and exports. As of March 31, the schemes had attracted Rs 2.40 lakh crore in actual investment and resulted in Rs 23.8 lakh crore in production and sales.PLI-supported sectors have also recorded Rs 15.2 lakh crore in exports, while the schemes have generated more than 14.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs.Electronics and telecom, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware and speciality steel have been among the sectors to benefit significantly from the incentive schemes, Goyal said.The government is also developing greenfield industrial smart cities across the country under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. The initiative is aimed at creating infrastructure to support globally competitive manufacturing.Goyal added that reforms to improve the ease of doing business had simplified regulations and reduced the compliance burden. Reforms in key sectors, he added, had opened up further opportunities for investment and manufacturing.“Ease of Doing Business reforms have simplified regulations and reduced the compliance burden, while reforms in key sectors have created new opportunities for investment and manufacturing,” he said.The minister also said that more than 470 crore orders have been placed through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
