BENGALURU: Indian-origin technology executive Chirantan “CJ” Desai has been named head of Meta’s new enterprise platform, less than a year after taking over as CEO of database company MongoDB. As chief enterprise platform officer, he will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.The appointment puts an executive whose career has largely been in business software in charge of turning Meta’s AI technology into products companies can use. The new platform will initially bring together tools including its Muse AI agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. Meta has not announced pricing or a timetable for the broader platform. Desai arrived at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1993 and earned master’s degrees in computer science and business administration in 1995. In an interview published by the university earlier this year, he recalled struggling to pay for both degrees. A research assistantship in its physics department helped cover his tuition. He later funded scholarships at the university for other students.A database course helped set the direction of his career. Desai joined Oracle after graduating and spent more than seven years there. He went on to hold senior roles at Symantec and EMC, became president and chief operating officer of ServiceNow, and later led product and engineering at Cloudflare. MongoDB appointed him CEO in November 2025. His move to Meta has prompted another leadership change at MongoDB.
