Bank customers planning branch visits in October will need to keep the month’s regional and festival holidays in mind, as branches will remain closed on different dates depending on the city. Since bank holidays can vary across regions, customers should check the schedule applicable to their particular branch before visiting.Banks observe both national and state-specific holidays, so a closure in one part of the country does not necessarily mean branches elsewhere will also be shut. In addition to these holidays, banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of October in line with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.Customers who need to make large cash deposits, get cheques processed or use other services that require a physical branch visit should plan such work around these closures.

Digital banking services to continue
While branch operations will be affected on these holidays, customers will continue to have access to digital banking services. ATMs, UPI, internet banking and mobile banking apps will remain available for routine activities.Customers can use these facilities for fund transfers, bill payments and account management. However, services that require a physical visit to a branch, including cheque processing, issuance of demand drafts and large cash transactions, will not be available on bank holidays.Customers should therefore schedule branch-dependent work in advance and check the holiday applicable to their particular branch before making a visit.
