Joe Manganiello has opened up about what led to the crumbling of his marriage to actress Sofia Vergara.In his upcoming memoir ‘Bloodlines’, the actor shared several personal claims about his relationship, health struggles, and even the much talked about baby issue that allegedly led to the end of their marriage.Manganiello’s memoir, set to be released on October 13, details the actor’s health struggles during marriage. As per People, he details how his health took a turn for the worse after his marriage. He claimed that he was suffering from excruciating abdominal pain and undergoing multiple surgeries and colonoscopies. His condition eventually led to part of his intestines being removed and him having to use an ostomy bag.In the excerpts, Manganiello said, “It happened to me, and it’s the truth, and I have all the scars to prove it. [Autoimmune] conditions are a dumping ground for things [doctors] don’t understand. They start running you through this gauntlet of drugs.”He also spoke candidly about how his health condition impacted his marriage. He claimed that his marriage had “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.” He further alleged that his wife, Vergara “refused to hug him even when he begged” during his health struggles.Manganiello further alleges that she ridiculed him over his decision to parent a five-pound chihuahua, Bubbles. He said, “she ridiculed him for his 5-lb. chihuahua Bubbles.” The actor says he adopted Bubbles in 2019, during a particularly difficult period in his life when he was experiencing thoughts of self-harm. “I had to give my gun away because I kept thinking about it, and then the dog came. I went from being the patient to the caretaker,” he said.

The actor also addressed the widely reported claims surrounding the couple’s decision not to have children together. After Vergara said they “broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Manganiello offered a different version of events.According to the memoir, he came clean, saying, “There were things said and printed about me that were false.” He alleged that his health problems ultimately changed his views about having a child.
