Top stocks to buy or sell today on October 9, 2026

Stock market recommendations: Axis Bank, and Authum Investment & Infrastructure Ltd have been recommended as the top stocks to buy today on October 9, 2026 by Hitesh Rathi, Technical Analyst (Equity & Derivatives) at Angel One. Meanwhile, Dixon is a sell call according to him. Let’s take a look:Buy Axis Bank at Rs 1245-1240; Stop Loss: Rs 1158; Target: Rs 1350-1360Following a sharp 16% move in a month earlier this year, which resulted in the formation of an Anchor Column on the 1% Point & Figure charts, AXISBANK has remained in consolidation thereafter. Despite the consolidation and the recent selling pressure, the medium-term bullish view is intact, as buyers have successfully defended the lows of the Anchor Column around the 1180 mark.Alongside this, the formation of successive weak breakdowns points towards a possible exhaustion on the part of sellers. A weak Breakdown on the candlestick charts, followed by the formation of an exhaustion Gap, points towards the possibility of a resumption of the prior uptrend. Given the stock’s proximity to a very strong support level, coupled with the presence of trapped sellers on the downside, we expect AXISBANK to resume its upward trajectory and outperform over the coming months.Buy Authum Investment & Infrastructure Ltd at Rs 550-545; Stop Loss: Rs 500; Target: Rs 620-630AIIL is one of the stocks exhibiting high relative strength, in a market that has encountered a broad-based selling. The stock has been gradually inching higher, in a higher high-higher low formation, indicating a strong uptrend is in place. The stock has established a strong support in the 510-500 band, taking support in this zone on multiple occasions, also indicated by the formation of a bullish anchor column, which has remained intact since its formation, providing additional evidence that buyers remain in control of this stock.Alongside this, the stock is also invalidating a major bearish set up, breaking above its prior bearish anchor column, providing further evidence of a shift in control towards buyers. This recent price decline offers a lucrative, risk-adjusted opportunity to enter into a strong stock.Sell Dixon at Rs 12650-12660; Stop Loss: Rs 13040; Target: Rs 12000-11965DIXON has had a scintillating run this FY, but post the prior up move, the stock is now showing signs a potential trend reversal, with prices now slipping below key exponential moving averages on its candle stick charts, where the bearish set up gets further underscored, with a bearish cross over of the 20 EMA, below its 50 EMA, indicating the short term trend has turned bearish. A weak breakout, and a follow-through double-both sell on the 1% Point and figure chart, corroborates the emerging bearish structure. The 0.25% Point and figure charts further reinforce the bearish view as well, where the stock is now triggering a follow through double bottom sell, after forming a bull trap, indicating that buyers are now trapped at higher levels. Given the overall established bearish trend in the broader market, DIXON offers a promising opportunity to enter early into a stock, which indicates a trend reversal.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market, or any other asset classes or personal finance management tips given by experts and analysts are their own.
