'Mammootty's investments are mostly in things like land', CA Sanil Kumar explains why the superstar avoids big businesses
‘Mammootty’s investments are mostly in things like land’.

Mammootty is among the most successful and influential stars in Malayalam cinema. However, his approach to managing his wealth appears more cautious than his choices on screen. Rather than entering large businesses or pursuing ventures with considerable financial risks, the actor has reportedly preferred investments in tangible assets such as land.Chartered Accountant Sanil Kumar, who has handled the financial affairs and private business interests of Mammootty and Mohanlal for more than 30 years, recently discussed the megastar’s investment habits. Speaking on the 42 PodCatcher podcast, he explained why Mammootty generally avoids running large businesses.

Mammootty prefers safer investments over risky business ventures

According to Sanil Kumar, Mammootty has little interest in expanding his portfolio through businesses that require substantial risk. The actor reportedly focuses on investments that offer greater security, with land being among his preferred choices.“He doesn’t get involved in businesses like that. His investments are mostly in things like land. Beyond that, he hasn’t shown much interest in taking risks and running a business,” Sanil shared during the conversation. The accountant’s remarks suggest that Mammootty’s financial strategy is built around preserving his existing wealth rather than pursuing aggressive expansion. Despite having the financial capacity to explore several business opportunities, the actor appears comfortable with a more conservative approach.

Mammootty’s financial understanding

Sanil Kumar also highlighted Mammootty’s understanding of financial matters. Having worked with the actor for several decades, he believes the megastar has enough knowledge to manage his personal finances and make informed decisions. This understanding has reportedly helped Mammootty maintain control over his assets.

Mammootty’s major business investments

Although Mammootty generally avoids large-scale business ventures, he has been involved in at least one notable entrepreneurial project. He was a major shareholder in a maternal care services brand established by his daughter Surumy and her husband, Dr Mohammed Rehan Sayeed.Sanil Kumar described the company as a startup from its early days. The venture eventually attracted foreign interest and was acquired by an overseas company. He also indicated that the sale generated a substantial premium for its shareholders.“Mammootty was a major shareholder in Motherhood. It was sold at a very good premium. You could call it a startup back then. I am talking about some 15 years ago. It’s only now that we hear about startups every day. Motherhood began as a startup. Then a foreign company came in and took over. Beyond such endeavours, Mammootty doesn’t get into big businesses. But he has the good sense and clarity to keep everything (his assets) safe,” Sanil Kumar added.

Mammootty’s upcoming films include ‘Padayaatra’ and Dhanush’s project

On the professional front, Mammootty is preparing for his next projects across Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He will be seen in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s upcoming film ‘Padayaatra’.The actor is also part of Dhanush’s pan-Indian action drama ‘OM – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood’. Mammootty plays Burma Karthikeyan, a powerful character affectionately called ‘Siya’ by the locals.DISCLAIMER: Figures presented in this article are derived from various public sources and are considered approximate unless explicitly noted.
