Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ continues its impressive box office journey, with the film approaching the Rs 800 cr worldwide mark. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action drama has accumulated Rs 776.95 cr in worldwide gross collections after 16 days in theatres. The sequel has also widened its lead over the 2023 release ‘Jailer’, recording a difference of more than Rs 240 cr at the corresponding stage. ‘Jailer 2’ records a 12% drop in Day 16 collection
The film registered a 12% decline in domestic collections compared with Thursday’s earnings of Rs 6.25 cr. Despite the drop, all four language versions continued to contribute to its theatrical performance.The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor, earning Rs 3.75 cr from 3,796 shows. The Hindi version collected Rs 1 cr across 3,310 screenings. Telugu added Rs 55 lakh from 799 shows, while Kannada contributed Rs 20 lakh through 174 screenings. Tamil alone accounted for 68.2% of the day’s domestic earnings.Ticket sales also remained substantial during the latest day. An estimated 4,29,196 tickets were sold across India, taking the cumulative estimated admissions to 2,93,18,633 since the film’s release.

A comparison with the first instalment reveals the sequel’s higher earnings at the same stage. On Day 16 in 2023, Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ collected Rs 3.40 cr net across India. The Tamil version contributed Rs 2.60 cr from 1,583 shows, while Telugu earned Rs 60 lakh through 732 screenings. Hindi and Kannada added Rs 10 lakh each, from 258 and 122 shows, respectively.Unlike the sequel, the original film recorded an 11.5% increase on its 16th day compared with the previous day’s Rs 3.05 cr. Its cumulative India net collection had reached Rs 302.20 cr, while the domestic gross stood at Rs 350.74 cr. Overseas earnings contributed Rs 183 cr, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 533.74 cr.
