Harry Kane‘s remarkable journey at Bayern Munich has received another major chapter, with the England captain signing a contract extension that will keep him at the German giants until June 2029. Fresh from becoming the first Englishman in 25 years to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or, the prolific striker has committed his future to the Bundesliga champions, bringing an end to speculation surrounding his long-term plans.Bayern Munich confirmed the agreement on Thursday, November 5, extending Kane’s previous contract, which was due to expire in 2027, by another two years. The announcement comes after months of negotiations between the club and the 33-year-old, who had repeatedly expressed his happiness in Munich and his desire to continue playing for the German champions.Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 and has since established himself as one of the most influential players in European football. He has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for the club.

‘I feel right at home’: Kane opens up on Bayern stay

Expressing his delight at extending his stay, Kane said his decision was influenced by his strong connection with the club, the supporters and the city of Munich. The England captain also highlighted the happiness of his family and his relationship with manager Vincent Kompany.“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” Kane said.“It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen also welcomed the development, describing Kane’s extension as a significant moment for the club and its supporters.

From Tottenham heartbreak to Bayern success

Kane’s decision to leave Tottenham in 2023 was driven by his ambition to win major trophies, having spent nearly two decades associated with the north London club without securing a senior team honour. His move to Germany has proved transformative. Since arriving at the Allianz Arena, Kane has won two Bundesliga titles, the DFB Cup and two Franz Beckenbauer Supercups. He has also finished as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer in each of his first three seasons in Germany, becoming the first player to achieve that feat. The striker’s individual numbers have been equally impressive. He has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for Bayern, including 101 goals in his first 98 Bundesliga appearances, becoming the fastest player to reach the century mark in the competition. He has also won the European Golden Shoe twice, in the 2023-24 and 2025-26 seasons, underlining his consistency at the highest level.

Ballon d’Or triumph caps remarkable season

Kane’s contract extension follows the biggest individual achievement of his career. On October 26, he was crowned the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or winner, becoming the first English player since Michael Owen in 2001 to receive football’s most prestigious individual honour. He also became the first Bundesliga-based player in 30 years to win the award. The England captain edged out competition from Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal after an outstanding 2025-26 campaign, during which he scored 73 goals for club and country across all competitions. His remarkable scoring record played a crucial role in Bayern’s domestic success, while his performances for England further strengthened his credentials. Kane also finished as the Champions League’s second-highest scorer with 14 goals as Bayern reached the semi-finals. He subsequently captained England to a third-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring six goals in the tournament.
