NEET UG 2026 candidates have been given additional time to complete the fee refund process after the National Testing Agency (NTA) extended the bank account verification and correction deadline to July 7, 2026. Applicants can confirm or update their banking details on the official portal to ensure successful processing of the examination fee refund.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to extend the deadline for NEET UG 2026 aspirants to enter their bank details for refund of examination fee. This decision was taken since more than 50% of the eligible candidates failed to submit their banking details up till the previous deadline according to media reports. Extension allows aspirants a second chance to successfully complete the process of refunding the fee.

52% candidates have provided bank details

The NTA has revealed that up until July 14, 2026, just 11,46,401 candidates have submitted their bank details. The agency has already started processing refunds for those who have successfully updated their bank account information. Candidates who are yet to complete the process have been urged to submit their details at the earliest to avoid missing the refund.

NEET UG 2026 refund deadline extended

The NTA has now extended the last date for submitting bank account details to July 31, 2026, till 11:50 pm. The previous deadline was July 14.The extension has been provided to ensure that all eligible candidates receive the refund of their examination fee. Candidates who do not update their bank account details before the revised deadline may face delays in receiving the refund.

Why are candidates receiving a refund?

According to reports, the NEET UG 2026 test was initially set to take place on May 3, 2026. Due to claims of the leakage of papers, the test was canceled and held once again on June 21, 2026.To ensure that candidates were compensated after the re-held test, the NTA moved ahead with the process of issuing refunds of examination fees. The refund is being transferred directly to the bank accounts provided by candidates.

NTA releases scanned OMR response sheets

Meanwhile, the NTA has also released the scanned OMR response sheets for candidates who appeared in the re-conducted NEET UG 2026 examination.The response sheets are available only through individual candidate login on the official NEET portal. Candidates must use their application number and password to access their scanned OMR sheet. The agency has advised candidates to ensure that they enter the correct login credentials to avoid access issues.The scanned OMR sheets have been released after the publication of the provisional answer key, allowing candidates to compare their recorded responses before the final answer key is issued.

Result expected by July 20

The objection window for the provisional answer key is scheduled to close shortly. After reviewing the challenges submitted by candidates, the NTA will publish the final answer key.The NEET UG 2026 result for the re-conducted examination is expected to be declared by July 20, 2026. The result will determine admissions for more than 20 lakh MBBS aspirants across medical colleges in the country.

What candidates should do now

Students who have not yet provided their bank details need to do so by 11:50 pm on July 31, 2026, in order to get their fee refunds done without any trouble. Students who took part in the exam must also download their OMR sheet in order to verify their answers through the official NEET website prior to the announcement of the final answer key.
