After ‘Lokah’, Kalyani Priyadarshan gears up for high-octane action in Ranveer Singh’s zombie thriller ‘Pralay’

Fresh off the blockbuster success of ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra’, Kalyani Priyadarshan is all set to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Pralay’. The actress will reportedly be seen in an action-heavy role opposite Ranveer Singh, taking on intense stunt sequences in the ambitious zombie thriller instead of playing a conventional leading lady.

Kalyani Priyadarshan to perform high-intensity action sequences

According to Variety India, Kalyani’s character in ‘Pralay’ has been designed as an action-oriented role. Unlike the stereotypical “damsel in distress,” the actress will be seen performing elaborate fight scenes and high-risk stunts alongside Ranveer Singh. After impressing audiences with her portrayal of a yakshi in ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra’, Kalyani has reportedly earned the confidence of the filmmakers, who are planning large-scale action set pieces for her in the upcoming film.To prepare for the physically demanding role, she will undergo specialised training under renowned international stunt coordinators and action experts, much like her co-star Ranveer Singh.

‘Pralay’ makers plan a global-scale action spectacle

The makers envision the film as one of India’s biggest cinematic spectacles, with the makers aiming to present action sequences that match the scale and intensity of major Hollywood productions. Sources suggest that Kalyani’s stunt choreography has been designed to stand alongside some of the most memorable female-led action performances seen on the international stage. Following an extensive pre-production phase, ‘Pralay’ is expected to go on floors next month.Ranveer Singh will reportedly complete the first schedule before taking a paternity break around Diwali. The actor is then expected to return to the sets in 2027 to begin filming the second leg of the project. Backed by an estimated budget of nearly Rs 300 crore, ‘Pralay’ is being mounted as a large-scale VFX-driven zombie thriller set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world. Directed by Jay Mehta, the film is jointly produced by Hansal Mehta‘s True Story Films and Ranveer Singh’s Maa Kasam Films.

‘Lokah’ franchise continues to expand

Apart from her Bollywood debut, Kalyani Priyadarshan is also preparing to return to the world of ‘Lokah’. The actress recently confirmed that work on ‘Lokah: Chapter 2’ is expected to begin in September. The sequel will centre on Chathan, played by Tovino Thomas, and will once again be written and directed by Dominic Arun. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the ambitious five-part franchise draws inspiration from regional folklore, with the actor also playing a significant role in the overarching narrative.
