SBI Summer Internship Program 2026

The State Bank of India (SBI) offers internship opportunities to students through its SBI Summer Internship Program 2026. The internship gives students practical exposure to the banking and financial services sector and helps them gain hands-on industry experience.Unlike some internship programmes, SBI does not conduct a single nationwide recruitment process through a common application portal every year. Instead, internship opportunities are offered through selected SBI offices, learning centres, business verticals and campus partnerships. The selection process may differ depending on the region and the educational institution.

Who can apply?

Students pursuing a full-time course at an institute approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) are eligible to apply, provided their course requires them to complete an internship at an external organisation.Students may be selected through campus recruitment or can directly approach SBI for internship opportunities. The bank has the right to accept or reject any application without giving a reason.

Documents required

Candidates will have to submit the following documents while applying:

  • Internship application
  • Updated resume
  • Letter from the educational institute confirming that the internship is a part of the course
  • Know Your Customer (KYC) documents

Selection process

The selection process includes a personal interview. If required, candidates may also have to appear for a group discussion.At SBI circles, the Learning and Development (L&D) department conducts the selection process. For Corporate Centre and Corporate Centre establishments, the applications are handled by the respective Human Resources (HR) or Administration departments.

How to apply

Students interested in applying should contact the Learning and Development (L&D) department at the Local Head Office (LHO) of the SBI circle where they wish to apply.If an application is submitted at any other SBI office or branch within the circle, it will be forwarded to the L&D department for consideration.For internships in the Corporate Centre or Corporate Centre establishments, applications can be submitted directly to the concerned HR or Administration department.

Stipend

SBI provides a stipend only to interns selected under the stipend category. The amount is paid after the successful completion of the internship project and submission of the project report.The bank has clarified that interns will have to bear all other expenses, including accommodation, travel and any additional costs incurred during the internship.

Will interns get a job offer?

No. SBI does not offer placement after the completion of the internship. The bank has also stated that completing the internship does not provide any additional advantage or preference in its regular recruitment process.Candidates are advised to visit the official SBI website for the latest updates and detailed information about internship opportunities.
