In an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,’ Christopher Nolan confessed that he could not direct a romantic comedy film, as making people laugh is one of the hardest things to do. “I think doing a rom-com would be incredibly difficult. I love watching those movies. But, no, I think comedy, like, people who direct comedy, people who do comedy, I think that’s one of the hardest things in the world to make people laugh that way,” he said in the show, suggesting that a rom-com is much more difficult to film than most people think. “Particularly the risk they take. When you make a film…you know, if I show a film to people and maybe they don’t respond to bits of it, I’m like, ‘Ah, they don’t get it. Whatever.’ There’s no hiding behind that when you do comedy,” Nolan jested, making Fallon laugh at his response.
Christopher Nolan almost lost ‘The Odyssey ’ raw footage
During the interview, Nolan recalled almost losing the raw footage of ‘The Odyssey.’ It happened during airport customs when agents opened the large IMAX format canisters, risking the film’s exposure to direct light. As the film stock is extremely sensitive, the opened containers were at risk of being ruined in an unconditioned environment.
