Robert De Niro’s is one of the most loved and respected actors in the Hollywood industry. Over the years, the New York native has accumulated a large amount of wealth from his work and projects, many of which he invested in building an extensive real estate portfolio. Over the years, the actor has been quite vocal about his love for his home state and how there is no other place like New York for him. His love for New York knows no bounds, as most of his estates are scattered across the area. From Greenwich Village to his Montauk Beach house, here is a look at the beloved Hollywood star’s extensive New York portfolio.

Robert De Niro’s main West Village townhouse

This was once the actor’s main house of residence, as he lived in the space for more than 37 years. New York Post had earlier reported that the actor has owned the stunning residence since 1975 for USD 190,000. The Italian-style house spans across 5000 square feet and features three bedrooms. Not only that, but one of the most special qualities of this property is the fact that it has 12-foot-tall ceilings for optimal spacing. The house was originally built in 1852, and De Niro sold it in 2012 for USD 9.5 million.

Ulster County estate

In 1997, the ‘Heat’ actor spent USD 1.5 million on this beautiful estate in the small town of Gardiner, New York. At the time, he had just married socialite Grace Hightower. The house spans 2,222 square feet, while it resides on an estate consisting of 78 acres of land. The actor renovated the space to his liking, after which it consisted of six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a barn that was later remade into a 14,000 square feet recreation center. This center included various private setups for De Niro and his family, including a gym, a boxing room, a game room, a swimming pool, a sauna, a basketball court, and a film studio.

Robert De Niro’s stunning Montauk beach house that he inherited from his father

This stunning estate in Montauk was an inheritance that he got from his late father, painter Robert De Niro Sr. After his passing in 1993, the 1.5 acres worth of land and the 2,278 square feet home were left to ‘The Intern’ actor. While not much is known about the beach house, it was reported once that the home featured an outside decking area that alone spanned across 740 square feet. In 2017, he had applied for the property to be taken down so that he could rebuild a bigger home. However, his request at the time was denied.

The 5th-floor Upper West Side apartment that burned down

He and Hightower co-owned the property and had purchased it together in 2006 for USD 20.9 million. Not many details about the 5th-floor luxury apartment were made public. However, in 2012, when the couple had been out of the country, CBS News reported that the luxury apartment and a large chunk of the building it was in had burned down because of a dryer-induced fire. After their return, the couple had to find different living accommodations until the apartment was remade. In 2018, Hightower and De Niro officially parted ways, and in 2025, the socialite sold the apartment for USD 18 million.

Greenwich Hotel penthouse

De Niro is a through-and-through New York man, so much so that he has invested in various business establishments across the state. This also includes the Greenwich Hotel, which the famed actor co-owns along with Ira Drukier. Due to his ownership, De Niro owns one of the penthouse properties that sits on top of the hotel building. Inspired by the Japanese concept of ‘wabi sabi’, the actor had hired Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt and Japanese architect Tatsuro Miki in 2014 to renovate and build up the penthouses to embody the feeling of finding beauty within imperfection. While talking about the property to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor had stated, Tribeca has its own ambience and feeling. Axel wanted to respect that and pull in elements of the city. It’s more than interior design: It is art.” Vervoordt had added while talking to Architectural Digest that, “The industrial treatment of the top is in perfect harmony with the building below.” Using wood, stone, and other similar elements, the 6,800 square feet unit was decorated and remodeled from top to bottom. Neutral tones and colours were used throughout the house to ensure that it went well with the theme and the overall ambience. While De Niro partially owns the property, guests are free to book the three-bedroom and two-and-a-half-bathroom unit as well.

Upper West Side 35th-floor space

In 2012, the veteran star also rented out a luxurious apartment unit that was situated on the 35th floor. According to reports, he used to pay USD 125,000 a month for the rent of the 6000 square feet property. Located in Central Park West, the space included five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The property was put up for sale, according to Architectural Digest in 2014, for USD 55 million.

Greenwich Village duplex

This was Hightower and De Niro’s home after the devastating fire burned down their luxury home. The property was formerly built as a manufacturing facility in 1920. They rented the space out for a while until their apartment was rebuilt. The property overlooked a stunning courtyard area and had an entire wall dedicated to large windows overlooking the scenery outside. The two-story foyer was a unique design addition to the rental property. The space also included personal spaces as well, including three wood-burning fireplaces, a library, and a primary suite. The building spanned across 11,000 square feet and had five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. The couple stayed in the rented property for 2 years.

Robert De Niro’s property in London

The actor owns a sole property in London, which he purchased for USD 1 million in 2001. The penthouse loft was once a jam factory and featured two bedrooms that spanned 2,100 square feet. Not much is known about this dwelling in London; however, it did come onto the market in 2018 for USD 2.16 million.
