UGC to launch NSPG and Ishan Uday scholarship application process soon

The University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon begin the application process for two scholarship schemes through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). These include the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region. The commission has said that the detailed application schedule will be announced separately. Once the application window opens, eligible students can apply through the official National Scholarship Portal. The scholarships aim to provide financial support to students pursuing higher education and help reduce the cost of their studies. Scholarships offered through NSP:

National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) First-year postgraduate students enrolled in a regular or full-time course at a recognised institution Rs 1.5 lakh per year, paid as Rs 10,000 per month for two years
Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme Students from the North Eastern Region admitted to the first year of a regular undergraduate course Rs 10,000 to Rs 80,000 per year, depending on the course, for three to five years

National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies

The National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies is meant for students who are pursuing a postgraduate degree through the regular or full-time mode at a recognised institution. Under the scheme, selected students will receive Rs 1.5 lakh per year, which will be paid at the rate of Rs 10,000 per month for two years.

Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme

The Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme is available for students from the North Eastern Region who have passed Class 12 from a recognised board and have taken admission to the first year of a regular undergraduate programme at a recognised institution. Eligible students will receive financial assistance ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 80,000 per year, depending on the course. The scholarship will be provided for three to five years. To apply, the annual income of the applicant’s parents must not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh.

UGC issues instructions to colleges

UGC has directed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure that their Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) verify scholarship applications within 15 days of submission on the National Scholarship Portal. The commission said timely verification will help students correct any errors or missing information in their applications before the last date for submission. UGC has also asked institutions to guide and assist students throughout the scholarship application process to ensure eligible candidates do not miss the opportunity.Note: UGC has not yet announced the application dates for either scholarship. Candidates are advised to keep checking the National Scholarship Portal for the notification regarding the opening of the application window.
