Mustafa Zahid to recreate ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ for ‘Awarapan 2’ despite the ban on Pakistani artists?

Emraan Hashmi‘s 2007 film ‘Awarapan’ is remembered as much for its heartbreak-laced romance as much as it is for its chartbusting music. Now, with ‘Awarapan 2’ gearing up for the release, fans have been speculating if its iconic songs will also make a comeback. As per the latest report, Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid, who lent his voice to the original ‘Tera Mera Rishta’, is in talks with producers Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Bhatt to record a reprised version of the track.

Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid to work on ‘Awarapan 2’ song?

The development comes as a surprise, given that the Hindi film industry has largely stayed away from working with Pakistani artistes since the 2016 Uri attack, a stance reiterated by cine bodies following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. Despite the same, talks between Mustafa Zahid and the ‘Awarapan 2’ team are reportedly underway, with the recording expected to take place in Dubai this week if things fall into place.According to Mid-Day, “Should the deal materialise, it will mark one of the rare instances in recent years of a Pakistani playback singer recording for a mainstream Hindi film. The song won’t be used in ‘Awarapan 2’, as that may land the film in certification trouble. So, the makers are considering bypassing its theatrical use; it will be used only in social media-led promotions. The professional reunion is awaiting approval from both parties at this stage.“
