After Jean Grey and Emma Frost, it seems that Marvel Studios may have found its next Scott Summers.Kit Connor, best known for his breakout role in Netflix’s ‘Heartstopper’, is reportedly in talks to play Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.

If finalised, it would land the star one of the key roles as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next generation of mutants. His casting would land up amid a lineup of Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, who made her debut in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, the powerful telepath and former villain who later becomes a prominent X-Men ally.

Cyclops and Jean Grey’s romance to be rekindled

Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, possesses the ability to emit powerful optic blasts from his eyes. If Connor is cast as Cyclops, Marvel would be reuniting one of the franchise’s most iconic comic-book couples, with Scott Summers and Jean Grey long considered central figures in X-Men lore.

‘Heartstopper’ reunion in the MCU

The casting would also create a potential ‘Heartstopper’ reunion within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Connor previously starred opposite Joe Locke in the acclaimed coming-of-age series. Locke has already entered the MCU, portraying Billy Maximoff/Wiccan in Marvel’s Disney+ hit ‘Agatha All Along’.

Marvel’s first standalone X-Men film

The upcoming film, to be directed by Jake Schreier, marks Marvel Studios’ first standalone ‘X-Men’ movie since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019, bringing the mutant characters under the Marvel Studios banner. Since then, Marvel has gradually begun introducing mutants into the MCU in films like ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, ‘The Marvels’, ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’ and more.Before the new team arrives, fans will see several familiar mutant faces return in December’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The film is set to feature original ‘X-Men’ stars Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, reprising their respective roles as Magneto, Professor X, Mystique, and Cyclops. The veteran heroes are expected to join forces with the Avengers and other multiversal characters in the battle against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

‘X-Men’ to launch MCU’s next saga

Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to release X-Men in 2028, with the film expected to serve as the launchpad for the MCU’s next major saga following the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
