Fans of singer-songwriter Morrissey have been left in quite a shock after it was confirmed that the star cancelled his residency only days before the debut date. Not only that, but there was little notice provided about the cancellation either. Here is what we know so far.
Morrissey cancels Las Vegas residency at the last minute
A week from now, starting on August 14, the famed singer was slated to perform four nights for his Las Vegas residency. However, according to the latest updates shared online by Consequence, he has officially cancelled all four of his shows at the last minute without much notice. This has left his fans in a state of shock, who had been waiting to see him live there.He was earlier scheduled to perform at the Wynn Las Vegas’s Encore Theater on August 14, August 15, August 18, and August 19. The cancellation has not been directly announced by the musician or any of his representatives. However, when fans log onto the popular website used to buy tickets, a message is displayed for all four dates of Morrissey’s residency.The message reads, “Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event.” In addition, they also wrote that anyone who used their platform to purchase the tickets does not have to worry, as the payment will be refunded and credited back to the original source within two to three weeks.While his August shows are cancelled, his upcoming performance dates in September, October, November, and December are still scheduled as planned. Morrissey will be touring America and Europe over the next couple of months. However, it is still not clear as to why the residency was cancelled last minute.This year, this is not the first time that the musician has cancelled some of his shows. He was set to perform for the first time in 2026 at the Rancho Mirage, California, earlier this year. However, at the time his team revealed that the concert had to be cancelled due to a medical issue. In March this year, the singer announced that he would not be able to perform on the day of his concert in Valencia, Spain. Calling the hotel where he was staying “undescribable hell,” which left him unable to rest, an official statement about the matter further read, “Tonight’s scheduled show in Valencia has been rendered impossible due to sleep deprivation. Morrissey drove from Milan to Valencia but has been unable to rest in Valencia due to noise. The show is not canceled. Circumstances render the show impossible.”
