Charles Leclerc’s Italian Grand Prix ended in dramatic fashion after the Ferrari driver suffered a heavy crash at Monza, triggering a red flag and bringing a chaotic start to Ferrari’s home race. Leclerc started third on the grid and was involved in an intense battle during the opening laps. After an early tussle with Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc found himself under pressure from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.While defending his position at the fast Parabolica, Leclerc lost control of his Ferrari and went off the track before crashing heavily into the tyre barriers. The impact left his car badly damaged and forced race officials to halt the race so the barriers could be repaired.

Leclerc walks away from huge impact

Despite the severity of the accident, Leclerc was able to climb out of the Ferrari on his own. He was subsequently taken for a medical check and was declared fine, providing some relief after the frightening incident. The crash was particularly painful for Ferrari, with Leclerc competing at his team’s home circuit in front of a packed Monza crowd. The Monegasque had started from the second row after qualifying third and had been expected to challenge for a strong result.The incident also came after a dramatic opening between the two Ferrari drivers. Hamilton attempted a move on Leclerc at the first corner but was forced wide, dropping several positions and later expressing his frustration over team radio.

Red flag adds to dramatic Monza race

The crash brought out the red flag and caused a lengthy interruption while marshals worked to repair the damaged barriers. The race was eventually restarted, with George Russell leading the field. Leclerc’s retirement meant Ferrari’s hopes at their home race were left on Hamilton’s shoulders, while the battle at the front continued to produce plenty of drama.

Kimi Antonelli stuns in Italian GP

Kimi Antonelli produced a remarkable drive to claim victory after starting from deep down the grid, while George Russell finished second. Max Verstappen completed the podium. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri followed in fourth and fifth, respectively.Lewis Hamilton finished sixth for Ferrari, while Pierre Gasly, who had started from a shock pole position, came home seventh.
