Amavasya is alwayus devoted to ancestors and on this specific day they are worshipped and honored. On this day, people perform various puja rituals and spiritual activities such as mantra jaap, taking holy dip in Ganga, they get engaged in donation and charity. Ashadha Amavasya 2026: Significance

Amavasya or New Moon day is one of the most significant days in Hindu religion and people perform various religious and spiritual activities on this particular day to appease their ancestors and seek their blessings as we have already mentioned that Amavasya is associated with ancestors. They show their gratitude and devotion. People perform Pitru Tarpan and Pind Daan and organize Gayatri Path for the ancestors’ salvation.According to the astrology, the Moon is almost invisible in the sky during the New Moon phase. Planet moon that represents the feelings, sentiments and emotions and intuition power.People utilize this holy day to peform various puja rituals and spiritual practices, such as – taking a holy bath in Ganga river, mantra chanting, visiting temple, lighting mustard oil diya under peepal tree, charity, yoga and meditation.
