With the current trend, the film is being positioned to become the first movie in domestic box-office history to cross the USD 1 billion mark.

The record-breaking domestic run and the extraordinary international performance, helped ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Da’ to cross the USD 2.4 billion mark worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film in global box-office history, behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.The film hit the USD 2 billion milestone after just three weekends, becoming only the eighth film ever to enter the exclusive club at the time. It also became the second-fastest movie to reach USD 2 billion, behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’.The film’s run has been remarkable from the beginning. ‘Brand New Day’ opened with USD 360 million domestically and USD 932 million worldwide, while its USD 72 million preview haul broke the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame.

Sony CEO credits film’s emotional impact

The film’s expic box office run has also exceeded Sony’s own expectations. Ravi Ahuja, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, told Variety, “It’s a tremendous result. We obviously hadn’t forecast that.
