The Tom Holland-led superhero film has already amassed around USD 923 million domestically, putting it within striking distance of ‘The Force Awakens’ which has a current total collection of USD 936.7 million.According to the latest projections, ‘Brand New Day’ may just go on to become the biggest movie ever released in the US and Canada, as per Variety Australia. With the current trend, the film is being positioned to become the first movie in domestic box-office history to cross the USD 1 billion mark.

‘Brand New Day’ crosses USD 2.4 billion worldwide

The record-breaking domestic run and the extraordinary international performance, helped ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Da’ to cross the USD 2.4 billion mark worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film in global box-office history, behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.The film hit the USD 2 billion milestone after just three weekends, becoming only the eighth film ever to enter the exclusive club at the time. It also became the second-fastest movie to reach USD 2 billion, behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’.The film’s run has been remarkable from the beginning. ‘Brand New Day’ opened with USD 360 million domestically and USD 932 million worldwide, while its USD 72 million preview haul broke the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame.

Sony CEO credits film’s emotional impact

The film’s expic box office run has also exceeded Sony’s own expectations. Ravi Ahuja, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, told Variety, “It’s a tremendous result. We obviously hadn’t forecast that. We thought it would do incredibly well, but we didn’t know that would do that well,” Ahuja said at the BofA Securities 2026 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference in New York.Ahuja attributed much of the film’s success to its emotional impact, suggesting that Brand New Day connected with audiences in a way that distinguishes it from many recent superhero releases.All eyes are now on this weekend’s numbers to see if the film has what it takes to set up a new record before it bows out of theatres.
