NEW DELHI: India’s medal tally climbed to six at the Asian Games 2026 on Monday, with shooters delivering three medals and Suchika Tariyal adding a historic bronze in mixed martial arts.Teenager Himanshu Dhillon won silver and former world champion Rudrankksh Patil claimed bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event. Their podium finishes came barely an hour after the duo, along with Parth Mane, had helped India win silver in the team event.Dhillon shot 252.4 points to finish behind China’s Lihao Sheng (254.2), while Rudrankksh finished third with 230.9. Rudrankksh had led at stages of the final before Dhillon moved into second after a 10.6 in the sixth series.The three shooting medals took India’s tally in the sport to five, after two silver medals on Sunday.Tariyal’s bronze in the women’s traditional 60kg MMA event was India’s sixth medal and the country’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the discipline, which is making its Games debut.Elsewhere, India defeated Japan 49-24 in men’s kabaddi, beat Indonesia 17-1 in women’s hockey, and defeated Pakistan 3-0 in women’s table tennis. Boxer Sumit also advanced with a 5-0 win over Thailand’s Bunjong Sinsiri.In swimming, Srihari Nataraj qualified for the men’s 50m backstroke final. India also secured two wins in soft tennis before losing to South Korea and the Philippines.
