Bengal cricketer Abhishek Porel, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, was arrested by police in Hooghly district on Monday night following a complaint by a woman alleging that he had sexual relations with her on the promise of marriage, news agency PTI reported on Tuesday.“There was a case lodged against him and a court order to arrest him. He was arrested late last night. He will be produced in court today,” Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.Porel was arrested by Mogra police and is expected to be produced before a court in Chinsurah later on Tuesday.Police have registered a case against Porel under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 69, as well as provisions of the Information Technology Act, police sources said.A woman medical student from Karnataka filed a complaint against Porel at Mogra police station on June 23. In her complaint, she alleged that she had been in a relationship with Porel for around three-and-a-half years and that the two had planned to get married.Police began an investigation after receiving the complaint.
