Yash explains why ‘Toxic’ will resonate with Gen Z and their questions about older generations: ‘Why are there such rigid rules? Why should we have to do things a certain way?’

Kannada Star Yash is making his grand comeback to the big screens almost 4 years after blockbuster ‘KGF 2’. He has two big projects in his lineup including the much-awaited ‘Toxic’ and the mythological epic ‘Ramayana’. While promoting his films, Yash spoke about Geetu Mohandas directorial and talked about that with the younger generation and explained why he feels the film connects strongly with Gen Z.

Yash talks about ‘Toxic’ and Gen Z

In an interview with Aap Ki Adalat, the actor said that every new generation is different and that the world belongs to young people. The ‘KGF’ star said older generations often feel that the younger generation has gone in the wrong direction. However, he believes this has always happened and that every generation should get the chance to find its own path.“The thing is, the next generation that comes along will always be better. And the generation that passes the baton tends to feel that the next one has gone astray. That’s a lifelong, age-old problem. But we have to understand one thing: the world belongs to the youngsters,” he said.He added that every generation has its own voice and freedom to express what it feels. When our time comes, we have to do our thing. When your time comes, you will do yours—whatever your voice is, your inner voice, your freedom of speech, and whatever people want to talk about,” said Yash.

Yash talks about the film’s mature content

Yash also spoke about the mature themes in ‘Toxic’. He said there is a difference between showing something in a vulgar way and presenting it with a proper aesthetic. He said, “Vulgarity is wrong; I haven’t even shown a kiss, if you’ve noticed. There’s a line, and we know it too. You have to shoot it in an aesthetic way, and the visceral impact it leaves afterward—that is the impact of cinema. That is the creator’s voice.”Yash also shared that ‘Toxic’ is made around questions and thoughts that many youngsters have about older generations.

‘Toxic’ is about the conversations Gen Z is having

“This film is made with an intent where those emotions are very, very important. When you watch the film, you will understand it. It is for Gen Z. It is for the conversations you all are having—the issues you have with seniors, the questions you raise about that generation, and what’s wrong with asking them. Why are there such rigid rules? Why should we have to do things a certain way? Whatever your thoughts are, that is the primal aspect of this film,” said Yash.‘Toxic’ is directed by Geetu Mohandas and features Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi. It is set to release worldwide on August 26.
