Debutant filmmaker Uday Chauhan’s Telugu film Pallaburusu, starring Sudhakar Reddy and Murlidhar Goud, has received high praise from renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Backed by Nagarjuna’s production banner, the film was released in theatres on August 14 and has been receiving a positive response from audiences.
Anurag Kashyap calls the film unmissable
Anurag Kashyap took to his Instagram handle to share his thoughts on Pallaburusu. He described it as a “fun and unexpected dramedy” from the Telugu film industry. Sharing the film’s poster, he wrote, “I think the title means ‘Toothbrush’ .. the most fun, fascinating, unexpected dramedy from Telugu cinema from @udaychauhandirects.”He also highlighted the film’s relatable elements and explained what makes its story stand out.He added, “So simple, so engaging, so funny yet so relatable. Anurag Kashyap praises ‘Pallaburusu’
The Maharaja actor also took to Letterboxd, where he called the film a “refreshing departure” from action films that look similar to one another.“Beautiful film. So simple, keeps a smile on your face. such a refreshing departure from all the non stop action films which are replica of each other,” he wrote in his review.
Director Uday Chauhan receives big praise
The Nishaanchi director also praised debutant filmmaker Uday Chauhan and compared him with filmmaker Venkatesh Maha, known for films such as C/o Kancharapalem and Rao Bahadur.“After Venky Maha, Uday Chauhan is a filmmaker I look forward to,” Anurag wrote in his review.
About ‘Pallaburusu’
Set in a village in Telangana, Pallaburusu revolves around an elderly man who approaches the police station to complain about his adult son. His problem is seemingly simple: his son refuses to buy him a toothbrush.Apart from Sudhakar Reddy and Murlidhar Goud, the film also stars Gomathy, Prajwal Yadma and Sujatha in important roles.Pallaburusu was released in theatres on August 14.
