Aamir Khan faces fatwa after marrying Gauri Spratt; cleric objects to interfaith marriage: ‘Gair Muslim se shaadi karna haraam hai’

Aamir Khan has landed in controversy just days after marrying longtime partner Gauri Spratt, with a Muslim cleric objecting to their interfaith marriage and declaring it impermissible under his interpretation of Islamic law.The actor, who tied the knot with Gauri in an intimate registered ceremony on July 5, 2026, has not responded to the remarks. Cleric objects to Aamir-Gauri marriage

Comments on multiple marriages

The Maulana also commented on the practice of marrying, divorcing and remarrying, saying it is not justified if a person cannot fulfil the responsibilities of each marriage fairly.Referring to Aamir Khan, he said, “This question is about film actor Aamir Khan. He has recently entered into a third marriage with a non-Muslim woman. In connection with that, we have also seen protests taking place in society…”Neither Aamir Khan nor his representatives have commented on the cleric’s remarks or the reported fatwa.
