Andhra Pradesh and Telangana school holiday today? How students can verify if institutions remain open safely
No official school holiday declared in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana today; students advised to verify institution status

No statewide government holiday has been declared for schools or colleges in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana on July 24, 2026. Educational institutions in both states are officially expected to function as usual. However, several private schools, colleges and select higher education institutions have independently suspended classes or postponed examinations following a bandh call by student organisations. The disruption follows a state-wide protest announced by student unions, including SFI, NSUI, PDSU and AISF, over alleged irregularities and the reported paper leak in the NEET examination. As a result, the operational status of institutions varies across districts, making it necessary for students and parents to confirm whether their respective campuses are functioning before travelling.Private institutions announce local closuresIn Telangana, the state government has not issued an official holiday notification for educational institutions. Despite this, several private schools and colleges in Hyderabad and other districts informed parents late on Thursday night that classes would remain suspended for the day. Osmania University has also postponed examinations that were scheduled for July 24, 2026.In Andhra Pradesh, the state government has maintained that schools should continue regular academic activities. However, student organisations have called for widespread participation in the bandh, prompting several private educational institutions in different districts to suspend classes independently. How to check whether your school or college is openStudents and parents should first check official communication channels used by their school or college, including WhatsApp groups, SMS alerts, email notifications and institution mobile applications, as many managements circulated closure notices late on Thursday. If no official message has been received, parents are advised to contact the school or college administration directly by telephone before leaving home. Institutions can confirm whether classes, examinations or transport services are operating as scheduled.Students attending universities should also monitor official notices issued by their institution, particularly if examinations or practical sessions were scheduled for the day.Verify local conditions before travellingParents and students should also follow updates from local authorities and regional news outlets for information on protest gatherings, traffic diversions or public transport disruptions in their area. Since closures have been decided by individual institutions rather than through a government order, attendance schedules may differ between schools and colleges within the same district.
