The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the Class 10 Second Board Examination Result 2026 for students who took the optional improvement test. Candidates can access their scorecards through DigiLocker and CBSE’s official websites. Introduced under the NEP 2020 reforms, the new system allows the better score from either board examination to be carried forward to the final marksheet.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 Second Board Examination Result 2026 on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Students who appeared for the optional improvement examination can now access their digital marksheets through DigiLocker, while the results are also available on the board’s official websites.The second board examination, introduced for the first time this year, offers students an opportunity to improve their performance without losing the marks secured in the first attempt. Under the new system, the higher score obtained across the two examinations will be reflected in the final marksheet.

CBSE implements two-board examination system

The 2026 academic session witnessed the rollout of the two-board examination framework for Class 10 in line with NEP 2020 reforms. While appearing for the first board examination remained compulsory, the second examination was optional and designed exclusively for students seeking better scores.The initiative aims to reduce examination-related stress by allowing students another opportunity to enhance their academic performance instead of relying on a single high-stakes examination.According to CBSE, the final marksheet will automatically reflect the best score obtained in either of the two attempts.

How to Download the CBSE Class 10 Second Board Marksheet

Students can obtain their digital marksheet through DigiLocker by following these steps:

  • Visit the DigiLocker website or open the DigiLocker mobile application.
  • Log in using the registered mobile number or Aadhaar credentials. New users must complete the registration process first.
  • Navigate to the Issued Documents section and select Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • Click on Class 10 Marksheet/Passing Certificate 2026.
  • Enter the required credentials, including the roll number, school number and admit card ID, if required.
  • Submit the details to view, download and save the digital marksheet for future use.

Minimum passing marks remain unchanged

CBSE has retained its existing passing criteria for the second board examination. Students must secure at least 33 per cent marks to be declared successful.Candidates who fail to meet the minimum qualifying requirement will have to appear in the compartment examination in accordance with the board’s regulations.

More than five lakh students took the improvement examination

The introduction of the second board examination received a strong response, with over five lakh students registering for the optional improvement test.Earlier this year, the first Class 10 board examination recorded an overall pass percentage of 93.70 per cent. The second examination was conducted to provide students with another opportunity to strengthen their academic records before higher secondary admissions.The declaration of the second board results completes the first full cycle of CBSE’s reformed Class 10 examination model, which is expected to play a central role in the board’s assessment framework in the coming years.
