Johnny Depp’s Hollywood comeback is picking up pace with the release of the first teaser trailer for ‘Day Drinker’, his upcoming revenge thriller that reunites him with Penelope Cruz.Released on Thursday, the teaser of the Marc Webb directorial, follows a cruise ship bartender played by Madelyn Cline, who meets a mysterious day drinker. Both of them soon find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly and connected in unexpected ways.The film marks the fourth collaboration between Depp and Cruz after wrking together in ‘Blow’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ and ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.It also marks Depp’s most high-profile project of late, following the many controversies that arose from his highly publicised divorce from ‘Aquaman’ actor Amber Heard. His directorial ‘Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness’ had also premiered at the Rome Film Festival.The film is also the second major Depp project to unveil footage in recent months. The first trailer for Ti West’s ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’, which was released in July, giving audiences an early look at Depp in the upcoming Charles Dickens adaptation. With ‘Ebenezer’ scheduled to release on November 13 and ‘Day Drinker’ set to arrive in cinemas on March 26, 2027, Depp will have two major Hollywood releases after his career was significantly affected by his legal battles with former wife Amber Heard.His Hollywood comeback has also fuelled speculation about a potential return to one of his most recognisable roles. In August, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline that Depp was in talks to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a potential sixth instalment of the franchise.Meanwhile, Penelope was last seen in the critically acclaimed film ‘Ferrari’. Her upcoming film ‘Bunker’ received a 16-minute standing ovation following its screening at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday, with the applause marking the longest ovation for a premiere at this year’s festival so far.Cline, on the other hand, rose to fame after her work in the Netflix drama series ‘Outer Banks’. She has also appeared in shows and movies like ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Boy Erased’ and Rian Johnson’s mystery film ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’.
