NEW DELHI: Digital asset firms will court sovereign investors at a Delhi roundtable this week as India pursues “faster, cheaper international payments” while insisting replacing the dollar is not on its agenda. Brics Digital Asset Round Table will gather 50 industry leaders.Organiser SWFI said iBrics summit investors manage $1 trillion across sovereign funds, pension funds and family offices. Held alongside the Brics summit, talks will examine linking national digital currencies and payment networks such as India’s UPI and Brazil’s Pix, and tokenised investment in infrastructure, energy, property and critical minerals.RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra said discussions covered central bank digital currencies and fast-payment links, with reducing costs a priority.The agenda carries diplomatic sensitivities. New Delhi said de-dollarisation is outside its financial programme, while the US President has threatened 100% tariffs against Brics countries seeking to replace the dollar.
