DU placement drive 2026 brings 75+ recruiters, 500 students together for career opportunities

The University of Delhi (DU) organised a placement drive on Saturday, bringing together more than 75 organisations and over 500 participants as part of an effort to connect students with prospective employers and expand their career opportunities.The ‘Placement Drive 2026’ was organised by DU’s Department of Continuing Education and Extension in collaboration with the Centre for Distance and Online Education. The event was held from 11 am to 4 pm at the department’s seminar room.

Students from multiple programmes participate

The placement drive was open to students pursuing MA Tourism Management and MA Lifelong Learning and Extension. Students from social science departments and those enrolled with the Centre for Distance and Online Education were also eligible to participate.The event provided students with an opportunity to meet recruiters directly, understand available career options and interact with professionals from different sectors. Career guidance sessions were also organised as part of the drive.According to the university, the initiative was aimed at strengthening industry-academia engagement while helping students develop better access to employment opportunities.

Organisations from diverse sectors join drive

Employers and organisations from several fields participated in the placement drive, including education, social development, healthcare, research, human rights, tourism and hospitality.Among the participating organisations were Janhit Society for Social Welfare, Abhiyakti Foundation, Saraswati Educational Society, Child Survival India, Bal Vikas Dhara, Samanvit Shiksha Sansthan, Aakanshi Samiti, Indian Society for Applied Research, EFRAH, Samarth, Mitr Trust, ADHAR and MRYDO.The tourism and hospitality sector was represented by organisations such as Uma Tourism and Holidays and Tripstride Tourism Pvt Ltd. They offered students opportunities related to travel and tourism.

DU plans more employment-focused initiatives

The placement drive was organised under the patronage of DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh.Payal Mago, Director, Campus of Open Learning, and Kumar Ashutosh, Head of the Department of Continuing Education and Extension, served as patrons of the event. Ajay Jaiswal, Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education, was the co-patron.The university said it plans to organise similar employment-oriented initiatives on a regular basis. The move is intended to give students greater exposure to recruiters and improve their access to career opportunities across different sectors.
