He mentioned that although it does include politics, it does not target or criticize any individual or political party.

While speaking with India Today, H Vinoth shared that the film’s story is about democracy, unity and working for the people. “There is direct politics in it but it doesn’t target or criticize anyone. This is politics that talks about unity and working for the people,” he said.He also explained the title, saying, “It is not a general term. This is a movie related to democracy, so we chose that title. The first poster itself mentioned ‘Torch Bearer of Democracy’.”Talking about Vijay’s hand-slash gesture seen in the trailer, he said, “It is necessary for the script and it is there. You watch the movie and if you think it is not relevant, I will answer.”

Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ marks his last film before focusing on his political career. He now also serves as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The film has been highly discussed, as it was initially supposed to release in January. However, it faced a long delay while getting its CBFC certificate.The film remained stuck with censorship formalities for months and during this time, the makers faced another challenge when it got leaked online.
