Kangana Ranaut has paid an emotional tribute to her late great-grandfather, Sarju Singh Ranaut, during Pitru Paksha, recalling how his affection and encouragement shaped her confidence. Sharing his photograph on social media, the actor-turned-politician credited him for the self-belief she carries today, describing how he made her feel loved, heard and valued throughout her childhood. She also remembered how proud he was of her when she was filming ‘Tanu Weds Manu‘.

Kangana Ranaut recalls childhood memories with her great-grandfather

Sharing what she described as the last photograph of her great-grandfather, Kangana recalled the special bond they shared. She wrote, “Since pitru paksha is going on here is the last picture of my great grandfather when he passed away at 102. When I was small, dada ji adopted me, every thing that I am today I owe it to my dada ji because he always sang a song to wake me up in the mornings, allowed me to play his Secretary when the landline phone rang, he laughed like a laughing Buddha and I could play on his shaking belly and he scolded my parents for being strict with me.”

The actor went on to explain how her great-grandfather’s affection helped shape her personality and confidence. Recalling his pride in her career, she added, “He gave me the main character energy that I have today, he made me feel seen, heard and loved. When he passed away I was filming Tanu Weds Manu, he was immensely proud of me. Thank you dada ji.”
