Infosys plays down impact of PERM suspension

BENGALURU: Infosys said the US Department of Labor’s suspension of new and pending applications under the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) programme for certain companies, including the IT services major, is unlikely to have a material impact on its operations.In a statement to the stock exchanges, the company said it was aware of the decision and welcomed the opportunity to work with the Department of Labor and other govt agencies to address any questions they may have.“We do not anticipate the announcement of such suspension to have a material impact on the organisation,” Infosys said.The company said it had invested in building a strong local workforce and technology and innovation hubs in the US. It reiterated its commitment to employees, clients and communities in the country, as well as to complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
