Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi is returning to the world of ‘Meesaya Murukku’ with its second installment, but the new film is set to explore a different side of his journey. Unlike the first part, which drew from his own experiences, ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ revolves around the life of a musician and has music at the heart of its story. The film is directed by Aadhi, who also plays the lead role, and is produced by Sundar C and Khushbu. Chaitra and Ramya Ranganathan play the female leads, while Harshath Khan, Nassar, Karunas, and Aadukalam Naren are part of the cast.

Speaking at the film’s press meet in Chennai, Aadhi explained how the sequel is different from the original. “The first part of ‘Meesaya Murukku’ was based on my own life. But ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ is the story of a musician. It is a film about music,” he said, as reported by Cinema Vikatan.He also spoke about Baba Bhaskar Master, who plays an important father character in the film. Aadhi said nobody could replace late actor Vivek, who had a special place in the first film, but he felt Baba Bhaskar was the right choice for this role. He added that audiences could see another side of him as an actor after the film.

Aadhi also recalled his association with Harshath Khan and how their professional journey began. He revealed that Harshath was first introduced through his independent music video ‘Bai Bai Bai. ‘ According to Aadhi, he wanted the video to introduce Harshath to audiences as an actor. Two years later, he is happy to see Harshath establish himself in Tamil cinema and earn recognition as a comedian.In ‘Meesaya Murukku 2,’ Harshath plays a key character using his real name. Aadhi said the actor has handled the comedy portions well, with the film also drawing from several real-life incidents.

Music remains the biggest theme of the sequel, with Aadhi aiming to bring greater attention to Gana music. He said gana should not be seen simply as local music, as it reflects people and their lives. The film features 12 songs inspired by three periods of Ghanaian music—the 1980s, the 1990s, and the present day. Aadhi expressed hope that the film would create more recognition for gana artistes and change the way the genre is viewed.With Yogi Babu, Nassar, Karunas, and others in important roles, the film brings together a large ensemble. ‘Anbarivu’ director Aswin is also associated with the project as a creative producer. Aadhi described the 12-song film as a complete celebration of music and entertainment.
