Chariot Construction

Three massive god’s (Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balbhadra, and Devi Subhadra) chariots are built every year. The structure was built according to old requirements in terms of proportions and materials.

Pahandi

On the day of the yatra, the gods are taken out from the temple and make them sit in their respective chariots and the procession is carried out and this ritual is called Pahandi, which is accompanied by chanting, dancing, and singing.

Chariot Pulling

Devotees sing various devotional hymns and prayers as they pull the chariots through the streets of Puri. This action is seen as extremely lucky.

Gundicha Temple Stay

At the Gundicha Temple, the gods spend nine days participating in various rituals and festivities.

Return Journey (Bahuda Yatra)

In a lavish procession, Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balaram and Goddess Subhadra return to the Jagannatha Temple.
