Tamil Nadu CM Vijay starrer ‘Jana Nayagan’ locks July 24 post CBFC battle as ticketing platform confirms release ahead of official announcement

Ever since Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay starrer ‘Jana Nayagan,’ also touted to be his swansong finally clinched its censorship certificate, after a battle with the CBFC, fans have been eagerly awaiting its release . While the makers are yet to make an announcement, overseas distributors have hinted at a July 24 release, and now a major ticketing platform appears to have further backed that date.

‘Jana Nayagan’ release hint

The ticketing platform took to its X (formerly Twitter) handle to share a post teasing the film’s release and wrote, “34 years, 68 Films, 68 First days, all leading up to one last First day. July 24th – Jananayagan on the Big Screen. Set to launch tickets soon, stay tuned, set your reminders.”It also added, “The wait finally has a date. July 24. Who’s watching #Jananayagan on Day 1?”The platform also shared the film’s synopsis, which follows an ordinary man who becomes a symbol of resistance after standing up against injustice and slowly grows into an unexpected leader.

Official confirmation is still awaited

Although both overseas distributors and the ticketing platform have hinted at the same release date, the makers have not officially confirmed it.There is also discussion on social media that the film could arrive a day earlier on July 23, but there has been no confirmation regarding that either.

About ‘Jana Nayagan’

The film was earlier announced for a January release; however, it hit a roadblock due to the censorship issue. Later in April, more problems arose for the makers as it leaked on the internet.Directed by H Vinoth, it stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil in important roles.In addition to Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ release, Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay is also marking his directorial debut with his film, ‘Sigma,’ scheduled for a July 31 release. However, reports suggest they will be pushed ahead.
