Nani’s ‘The Paradise’ could receive changes ahead of its OTT release, with reports suggesting that the actor is personally monitoring the film’s digital version. It remains unclear which portions could be added or when the revised version will premiere on OTT.The reported plans come as Nani has opened up about the criticism surrounding the film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor explained why he could understand some of the complaints even before the movie reached theatres.
Nani reportedly oversees ‘The Paradise’ OTT version
Nani is reportedly taking a personal interest in preparing ‘The Paradise’ for its digital release. The proposed changes could include previously unseen shots that were not part of the theatrical version.The movie received mixed reactions, with some viewers expressing disappointment over its content despite the anticipation surrounding the project. Whether the additional footage will address those concerns remains to be seen.
Nani says friends and family give honest feedback
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Nani explained that the people closest to him do not hesitate to express their opinions about his films. He believes their honesty helps him understand how audiences might respond to his work.“I’m not from a cinema background. The people I’m surrounded with are extremely honest to me. There’s no filter at all,” he said. The actor recalled that even some of his successful films did not impress everyone around him. He said these reactions helped him remain connected to the audience rather than viewing moviegoers as a separate group.“My friends and family would say, ‘We don’t want to watch that film, we didn’t like it at all…’ So I was always very close to reality… I’ve always watched films in the theatre; I know that I am one among the audience. I don’t think the audience is a separate entity. I always feel that if I like it, they would like it too… I’m one of them,” he said.
Actor noticed potential issues before theatrical release
Nani also revealed that he had recognised certain portions of ‘The Paradise’ that might not work for every viewer. He believed the interval sequence, background score and childhood portions would connect with audiences.However, he was also aware of moments that could affect the film’s reception. According to Nani, some of the concerns raised by viewers after the release were issues he had already noticed.“Anything they (the audience) have been mentioning, logically or something where it dipped or something which didn’t work for them… I did see all of that. I felt that before,” Nani said.
Nani explains how he judges his own work
The actor said he tries to evaluate his films from an audience member’s perspective. Maintaining distance from his own work, he explained, helps him recognise which scenes are likely to connect with viewers.“I also knew which portions would work and land… As long as you can be detached from your own work and see it as the audience, it will always be clear. And I don’t know how not to do that, I don’t know how to get carried away,” he added.
‘The Paradise’ earns Rs 119.54 cr in India
Meanwhile, ‘The Paradise’, featuring Nani and Kayadu Lohar, continued its theatrical run on Friday, October 9. According to Sacnilk, the movie collected Rs 51 lakh in India net earnings on Day 16.Its gross collection for the day stood at Rs 57 lakh across 518 shows, with an overall occupancy rate of 18.2%. The film’s cumulative India net collection reached Rs 119.54 cr. The worldwide gross collection stood at Rs 171.96 cr. This includes Rs 140.81 cr from India and Rs 31.15 cr from overseas markets.
