NEET PG 2026 city intimation slip: NBEMS issues clarification after candidates report discrepancies

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a clarification on the test city allocation for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) exam 2026.The clarification came after several candidates reported differences between the test city mentioned in their SMS and email and the city shown on the NBEMS applicant portal.NBEMS said that some candidates received incorrect test city details through SMS due to a technical issue. The board has now sent the correct test city details to the affected candidates through SMS and email. The correct test city has also been updated on the NBEMS applicant portal for all candidates. Candidates have been advised to check the city shown on the official applicant portal and rely on it for accurate information.

Candidates report different test cities

Several NEET PG 2026 candidates raised concerns on social media after receiving different test cities through different communication channels. Some candidates said the city mentioned in the SMS was not among the three states they had selected while filling out the application form. For example, one candidate from Delhi-NCR said the SMS mentioned Dhanbad in Jharkhand, while a different city was shown on the applicant portal.Another candidate reported receiving Churachandpur in Manipur through SMS and email, while the portal showed Surat as the allotted city. A candidate from Kerala also said they were allotted Bilaspur, which was not among the three states they had selected. The reports led to confusion among candidates over whether they should follow the details mentioned in the SMS and email or those displayed on the applicant portal.

NEET PG 2026 test city allocation

For NEET PG 2026, candidates were required to select three preferred test states instead of individual cities during the application process.NBEMS had earlier clarified that test city allocation would not be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates who submitted their applications early would not get any preference for a particular test state, city or examination centre. The board has now advised candidates to check the test city displayed on the official applicant portal. Candidates should rely on the portal for the correct information regarding their allotted test city. The NEET PG 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on August 30, 2026. Candidates should regularly check the official NBEMS website and applicant portal for further updates related to the examination.
