Not sleeping well? These 5 astrology and vastu tips could transform your bedtime routine

We often think sleep begins when we close our eyes.I believe it begins much earlier. It begins with what surrounds your bed, what you consume before sleeping and what thoughts you carry into those final few minutes of the day.In astrology and Vastu-inspired practices, the bedroom is associated with rest, emotional recovery and the subconscious mind. While persistent sleep problems should always be addressed medically when needed, a few simple changes can make your bedtime environment calmer.

1. Keep your mobile phone away from the bed

The last thing many of us see before sleeping is a screen.Messages. Reels. News. Emails. Notifications. And then we expect the mind to become silent immediately.Keep your phone away from your pillow and preferably beyond easy reach from the bed. If you use it as an alarm, place it on a table at some distance.Apart from any astrological interpretation, reducing screen exposure before bedtime is also consistent with mainstream sleep-hygiene advice.Your mind needs a signal that the day has ended.

2. Keep your bed box clean and organised

Open the storage underneath your bed sometime this weekend. What is actually inside it?Old documents, broken electronics, clothes you haven’t worn for years and random objects should not permanently accumulate beneath the place where you sleep. If you have a storage bed, keep it clean, organised and preferably limited to useful items such as bedding, blankets and regularly required household linen. You don’t need empty space under every bed.You need space that doesn’t become hidden clutter.

3. Use calming aroma oils

Fragrance can become a beautiful bedtime cue.Lavender is one of the more commonly used aromas for relaxation. You can also explore gentle fragrances such as chamomile if they suit you.Use them subtly through an appropriate diffuser rather than making the bedroom overwhelmingly fragrant. Essential oils should not be ingested, and skin application requires appropriate dilution and safety consideration. The intention is simple:Let your bedroom smell like rest.

4. Keep one or two crystals near your bed

If crystals form part of your spiritual or energy practice, don’t turn the bedside table into a crystal shop. For the sleeping area, I would prefer something gentle such as Amethyst for a calming atmosphere or Selenite for the symbolic intention of cleansing and creating a lighter space. One or two crystals are enough.Keep them clean and place them neatly on the bedside table rather than underneath your pillow.Crystals can be used as symbolic wellness tools, but they should not be treated as scientifically established treatments for insomnia.

5. Chant a Nidra mantra and end the day with gratitude

The final thought before sleeping matters.Instead of ending the day with tomorrow’s problems, spend the last few minutes slowing your thoughts down. Chant your preferred Nidra or Shayana mantra, followed by a simple gratitude practice.Think of three things that went right today. They don’t have to be extraordinary.A good meal. A completed task. Someone who called. A peaceful moment. Simply having a bed to return to.Then consciously tell yourself:“Today is complete. Tomorrow will be handled tomorrow.”
