What Rakul Preet Singh’s ‘Ramayana’ is about

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ brings Valmiki’s ancient epic, among the oldest texts in world literature, back to the screen. Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, whose wife Sita (Sai Pallavi) is abducted by the asura king Ravana, played by Yash. The chain of events leading to the war begins with Surpanakha, Ravana’s sister, who is humiliated by Rama’s brother Lakshman. The story continues in a sequel, set for release in 2028.
