‘My dadi had tears in her eyes’: When ‘Ramayana’ star Ranbir Kapoor revealed why his 54.3% in SSC became family celebration

Ranbir Kapoor has often entertained fans with humorous stories about his life, but one of his most memorable anecdotes had nothing to do with films. During an appearance on Koffee With Karan, the actor recalled how his Class 10 board examination result turned into a major celebration within the Kapoor family.Despite belonging to one of Hindi cinema’s most successful film families, Ranbir revealed that passing the Class 10 examination itself was considered a significant achievement at home. According to the actor, securing 54.3 per cent in his board exams was enough to leave his family overjoyed.

Ranbir Kapoor was in America when the results arrived

While sharing the story, Ranbir explained that he was not even in India when his examination results were announced. At the time, he had travelled to the United States to assist his father, the late Rishi Kapoor, during the making of ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’.Meanwhile, his mother, Neetu Kapoor, collected his results back home. The actor recalled that the news of his marks spread quickly, leading to an emotional reaction from his family members.Host Karan Johar then asked him, “Are you the first Kapoor boy who passed without failing a year?”

The story behind the grand celebration

The celebrations soon extended to the rest of the family. He said, “I was in America, and I was assisting my father on a film he was directing, ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’, and my mom went to take my results. I think Ayesha only called up my mom and said that, ‘Aunty, Ranbir’s got 54.3’. And my mom was screaming with joy. Like, there was a party thrown for me out there. My dadi had tears in her eyes that it’s the first Kapoor boy who’s passed the 10th standard without failing a year. So it was like a big event, you know. I’m the most educated in my family.”Ranbir’s humorous confession left both Karan Johar and viewers laughing.
