‘Scene’ actor Suriya expressed gratitude to Dhanush for moving the release of ‘OM: Chapter 1’ to avoid a box-office clash with his upcoming film ‘Scene’. Speaking at the audio and trailer launch event, the actor acknowledged Dhanush’s gesture ahead of the Diwali release. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, ‘Scene’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on November 6, 2026.The event also featured a moment involving Suriya’s popular moniker, ‘The One,’ which is also used in the newly released ‘Scene’ trailer. The actor asked fans whether he should continue using the title, which became associated with him after Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Retro’. The audience responded enthusiastically, and Suriya agreed to retain it.
Suriya thanks Dhanush for changing release plans
Dhanush had initially planned to release ‘OM: Chapter 1’ on October 16, 2026. The date was later changed to avoid a clash with ‘Jailer 2’. The actor subsequently revised the schedule again, ensuring that his film would not compete with Suriya’s ‘Scene’ during the Diwali season.Expressing his appreciation, Suriya said, as quoted by Cinema Vikatan, “Finally, my special thanks to actor Dhanush. Because, since our film is coming up for Diwali, he himself tweeted and congratulated me by postponing the release of his film. My heartfelt thanks to him!”
Fans support Suriya’s ‘The One’ identity
Suriya also used the occasion to seek his fans’ opinion on continuing with the ‘The One’ title. The moniker has remained part of his public identity since his collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj on ‘Retro’.The audience’s response was overwhelmingly positive. Suriya acknowledged their enthusiasm and agreed to continue using the title.The actor also paid tribute to composer Deva, who scored music for his debut film, ‘Nerukku Ner’. Suriya recalled the song ‘Aval Varuvala…’ and spoke about the importance of the composer’s contribution to the beginning of his journey in cinema.Suriya said, “Surya said, “The music for my first film, ‘Nerukkuru Ner’, was composed by Deva sir. I would like to express my prayers to him and my deepest condolences to his family through this platform. The song he composed that day, “Aval Varuvala…”, is still being played today. If I have come this far, it is because of the start Deva sir gave me. I will always remember you, sir.”He also reflected on the support he has received from fans over 29 years. Suriya recalled a blood donation camp that brought together 5,000 people. The initiative began with his promise to take photographs with those who donated blood.
